The distribution of Erigeron [Conyza] canadensis resistant to the effects of paraquat was studied in 5 areas in Saitama Prefecture in May 1986 and June-July 1988. Some plants were resistant to the herbicide, others susceptible and others partially susceptible. The total of susceptible plants for all 5 areas increased from 23 to 36% between 1986 and 1988. Growth characteristics did not show any marked differences between the 2 surveys.
